I guess one of my neighbours has been celebrating it last night, because today I found hair and blood on the staircase.
I don’t have words for this…. Oh, sorry, gov is mostly packed with men, they don’t know its meaning :/
Minister of Justice (sic!) says that the Convention poses a threat to traditional values and division of roles in a family… Or something like this. So I guess that the role of a wife is to humbly accept being beaten.
I can’t express how sick I feel about all of this.
I guess one of my neighbours has been celebrating it last night, because today I found hair and blood on the staircase.

| Ciel in the Manga: | "I may be 13, but fuck with me and I will not hesitate to put a bullet through your skull and then come up with a brilliant scheme to hide the body so that no one will even notice you're dead. Also, I run a multi-million pound business and reign over so many elite business connections, it surpasses the world of the living. NBD." |
| Ciel in the Anime: | "WAAH SEBASTIAN I GOT KIDNAPPED AGAIN SAVE MEEEE" |

One of the things characteristic for Polish people, especially those interested in cinema, is constant complaining about the quality of Polish translations of foreign films, especially when it comes to titles. It’s true that Polish translators can sometimes be really creative. If you’re hungry for examples, check this out:
I’m going to complain a little bit now, too. The example I’ve stumbled upon today may not seem as prominent as The Spinning Sex (yes, that really is what “Dirty Dancing” used to be called in Poland), but it’s still somewhat annoying, because it shows how arrogant some translators are.
But we have one example of good use of translation - Hangover, which appeared in Poland as Kac Vegas (Hangover Vegas). Ok, I know it’s not too much, but still someone happened to think a bit.
BTW - Quills is a very good movie ;)
Yes, Kac Vegas was a brilliant translation… Until the sequel appeared ;) Pretty similar case to the one of “Die Hard”.
And yes, “Quills” is an outstandingly good film, probably one of the best I’ve ever seen ;) And a good example that we shouldn’t judge anything by its cover. Especially when the cover is prepared by our beloved Polish distributors. I’m looking at my copy and I can’t decide which is more stupid - the title on the front, or the review on the back… At least there’s Geoffrey Rush on both sides. And Kate Winslet. Gosh, she’s pretty…
